Not Out Impossible
Jared E. Collins
Collins Amberley (npg )
This self-published memoir, obviously a labour of love, concerns cricket played around the resort of Westward Ho! from 1949 to 1969. The self-effacing author is a cricketer of some considerable talent – good enough to play for Devon. Participants from that era, the likely readership, will derive much enjoyment in this book although its wider appeal must be limited.
Perhaps the most startling inclusion are the appearances of Richard Sharp (England stand-off) and Henry Brooke (Home Secretary). Hard to imagine a book where those two might appear together, but here they are in one sentence, with David Shepherd also in attendance.
