Laidlaw Education has over 20 years experience in helping pupils with special education needs. Our highly qualified team provide specialist tuition helping children with dyslexia, dyscalculia or dyspraxia. Where appropriate assessments can be organised either with one of our own team or if required a consultation with our in house Educational Psychologist, Peter Kendall.

We are in regular contact with Sencos in local schools so can ensure our support dovetails with school.

This support can either be as part of our after school programme or by joining our specialist daytime department at Laidlaw Hall based at Dukes Meadows.

Handwriting

Gwen Dornan, our specialist Handwriting expert offers individual 30 min lessons on Monday and Wednesday afternoons. She has extensive experience in helping children improve their handwriting – this includes left handers and children with poor fine motor skills and those who are dyspraxic. Gwen will assess the reasons why a child’s handwriting is weak and then build a specific programme for the child.

In addition, we offer occasional one hour sessions for children who might like a review, assessment or one-off lesson.
